Don’t make stress an enemy…stress is not bad.
A survey over 8 years showed that there was a 43% increase risk in dying for those who experience a lot of stress in the previous year – but only for those who also believe stress is harmful to your health. For those who said they do not believe stress is harmful to your health and experienced a lot of stress in the previous year, their risk of dying was the same or less than those who said they experienced relatively little stress during the previous year.
How you view stress (your beliefs about stress) with change how your body deals with stress and what the stress response is. What you feel when stressed is a good thing…that is the body preparing you to move and do things. This is your body helping you rise to the challenge.
Also caring for others and being social makes you resilient against the effects of stress.
