I am a fan of Lou Adler and Performance-based Hiring (see more at the Adler Group). I took the Performance-based Hiring course in September 2008, and as part of the course I received a copy of “Hire With Your Head.” I recommend that every recruiter should read this book.
It has been a while since I read that book, but I decided to buy a copy of “The Essential Guide for Hiring and Getting Hired” on Audible (a more recent work by Lou Adler). I like getting audiobooks, because I can listen to them when I am at the gym or during the commute to the office.
Lou covers many of the flaws to the recruiting process, how we design job posts/descriptions, and what it takes to hire the top talent. Also, he covers advice for job seekers. Unlike “Hire With Your Head” that was designed for recruiters primarily, this other book is for anyone at all involved in hiring or being hired.
